When you’ve set out on a trip into the wild blue, it’s good to be prepared for all that could happen. It is essential to have a GPS device, as well as a working cell phone and a radio—this will allow you to contact help should there be a problem. You will also want life jackets for all occupants of the boat, including a dog life jacket in case the family canine is aboard. An anchor, boat hook, and rope to tie off at a dock or shore are also necessary. When boating, be sure to offer the right of way to other boaters or larger crafts. You will also want to watch out for shallow areas marked with buoys.
If you hear a scraping sound at any moment, stop, put the boat in reverse, and back out or you risk damage to the boat’s hull.
